Xóchitl González Quintanilla
Set and lighting designer
Xóchitl is an award-winning lighting designer from Mexico City. Since 1991 she has consistently designed for theater and dance. In 2004 she concluded her Stagecraft studies at the Theater Institute in Barcelona and doing their internships at the Ansaldo laboratories of La Scala of Milan in Italy.
She has collaborated with the most prominent contemporary dance companies of Mexico, as well as with important directors and set designers. The extensive number of projects in which she has participated has granted her prestige and the possibility of presenting them in recognized festivals and theaters of Mexico and the world.
Mexico’s Theatre Journalists Group awarded her the Prize Antonio López Mancera for best scenography of the year in 2005.
In 2011 and 2016 she participated in the Mexico exhibition of The Prague Quadrennial and its special exhibition on lighting design.
In September 2013 she received the LIGHTING DESIGN AWARD at the WORLD STAGE DESIGN 2013in Cardiff, UK.
The following year she published PRACTICAL HANDBOOK OF SCENE DESIGN in Mexico City.
In 2015, 2019, and 2022 was invited to participate in the Annual Conference of the USITT (United States Institute for Theater Tecnology) in USA and in the International Lighting Symposium Hong Kong 2015.
She has been a member of the SNCA (National System of Artists), the highest distinction awarded by the Mexican government to theatre artists.
Recently received the 2019 LIGHTING DESIGN AWARD of the Association of Critics and Journalists of Theater in Mexico.

Diseñadora de escenografía e iluminación
Nació en la ciudad de México, estudió Maquinaria Escénica en el Instituto del Teatro de Barcelona concluyendo con prácticas en los laboratorios Ansaldo de La escala de Milán.
A diseñado escenografía y/o iluminación para mas de 250 obras de teatro, danza, museografía, música, cine y ópera.
En 2006 recibió el Premio “Antonio López Mancera”de la Union de Periodistas Teatrales por mejor escenografía del año 2005.
En Septiembre de 2013 obtuvo el PREMIO DE ILUMINACIÓN en el WORLD STAGE DESIGNen Cardiff UK, por su diseño para la obra EX – STASIS de la compañía Tania Pérez-Salas.
En 2014 publicó el libro MANUAL PRÁCTICO DE DISEÑO ESCENOGRÁFICO.
En 2015 y 2019 fue invitada a participar en la Conferencia anual de la USITT (United States Institute for Theatre Tecnology) en USA y en el Simposio Internacional de Iluminación 2015 en Hong Kong.
Ha sido miembro del Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte, que es la más alta distinción que otorga el gobierno mexicano a los artistas.
Recientemente recibió el PREMIO DISEÑO DE ILUMINACIÓN 2019 de la Agrupación de Críticos y Periodistas de Teatro.
